Last year, former Kobalt Music Group president Richard Sanders joined Tidal as its new CEO. Now Kobalt has moved to replace him at the summit of its recorded-music division.

Lonny Olinick is the new CEO of Kobalt Recordings, including the company’s Kobalt Music Recordings and AWAL subsidiaries. He’s stepping up to the role from his previous post as chief strategy officer for Kobalt, which included overseeing the recordings part of the company.

In a statement, Olinick focused on the progress made in 2017 for this part of the company. “Lauv, who had a top 30 global radio hit, went gold or platinum in 10 territories and has more than 500 million audio streams with his songs since becoming a Kobalt client is one great example of our focus,” he said.

“This is the dawn of a new era and we will be at the digital forefront, just as we were with publishing.”
