PPL is looking for a Rights Negotiator, based in its offices in Soho, London to negotiate agreements and tariffs with broadcast licensees and public performance trade bodies. Proven skills in complex commercial negotiations, analysis and business development are required.

Who are PPL?

As a collective rights management organisation at the heart of the UK’s music industry, PPL ensures those who invest their time, talent and money to make recorded music are compensated when their music is used in public by businesses or broadcast on TV or radio.

Based in Soho our committed and passionate culture where we place our members and licensee customers at the heart of what we do, will offer a dynamic environment to showcase your skills.

What you’ll be doing…

As PPL’s Rights Negotiator your main focus will be on negotiating licence agreements and tariffs with significant licensees and representative trade bodies for PPL and its sister organisation Video Performance Limited (VPL).

You will negotiate bespoke broadcast licences, public performance tariff schemes and effectively project manage these discussions (negotiations instead of discussions?). This will involve the timely and high quality delivery of business and financial analysis, research to inform PPL’s licensing strategy, the formulation of licence proposals, negotiation and subsequent implementation of these new deals.

The Rights Negotiator will report into the Head of Broadcast Licensing but will also support the other commercial areas under the remit of PPL’s Chief Licensing Officer on a project by project basis.

What you’ll need…

Key requirements:

-Proven commercial negotiation skills with at least 2 years’ experience in negotiating complex commercial arrangements.

-Proven business development and relationship management experience.

-Very strong verbal and numerical reasoning and analytical skills.

-Excellent verbal and written presentational skills, with the ability to present data and insight in a robust, logical and clear manner.

-Good project management skills and the ability to effectively prioritise a varied workload.

-Knowledge of and an interest in media industries and how new technology is driving change.

-Educated to degree level or equivalent.

What we have to offer…

Apart from the competitive salary, generous pension scheme, holiday allowance, monthly social events and free fruit; we offer a fun and highly spirited working environment with great people. When you come on board at PPL you can expect to be rewarded for your hard work in many ways, not just financially. Employees are entitled to a wide range of benefits which supports their lifestyles and needs.
