Twitch attracted 15m unique daily viewers in 2017

We were starting to wonder why Amazon’s Twitch live-video platform hadn’t published its usual year-end review of its stats. It turns out the company was turning the annual post into a comic strip.

Among the key stats revealed: Twitch now has more than two million people broadcasting on a monthly basis, with more than 27,000 of them classed as ‘partnered streamers’ making money from their channels.

Twitch was attracting more than 15 million unique daily visitors in 2017, with 355bn minutes of video watched on the platform.

The post came as we also got some music-specific Twitch news. EDM star Deadmau5 (or Dead-Mow-Five as we’ll always know him, thanks to Kanye West) has created an official intro song for popular Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect.

‘Speed, Violence, Momentum.wav’ was unveiled this week. Deadmau5 is one of the more engaged musicians with Twitch already: his channel has 456 videos archived, and nearly 344,000 followers.
