Apple unveiled its new analytics dashboard in January, with Apple Music for Artists available being tested by ‘a few thousand’ artists at that time. Now it’s opening up to wider numbers of musicians, although still as an invitation-only beta.
“Attention artists: We’re rolling out access to Apple Music for Artists! Reserve a spot on the beta at apple.co/Artists,” announced a tweet from Apple Music last night.
The dashboard is comparable to similar offerings from other streaming services, offering key stats including plays, radio spins (as in Apple Music radio), and iTunes song and album purchases.
It’ll also serve up milestone updates for all-time plays and purchases; map trends over time with graphs; show which Apple Music playlists are driving streams; and will show the location and demographics of an artist’s listeners.
For now, there’s no data on income from all these streams and sales: in January it was reported that Apple considered including this “but decided not to for the immediate launch, in part because of the complexity of how royalty payments are calculated”.
