Indian music giant T-Series has raced past another milestone for its YouTube channel, which now has more than 50 million subscribers. The channel only passed 40 million in March 2018, so it’s been adding around 3.3 million new subs on YouTube every month this year.
As recently as January 2017 it had around 14 million subscribers, but YouTube’s rapid growth in India – and the popularity of T-Series’ catalogue of film-music around the world – has fuelled the channel’s rise.
“It really feels good to be at 50 million subscribers position, but it also brings greater responsibility to meet higher fan and industry expectations,” said president Neeraj Kalyan.
T-Series is currently the second most-popular YouTube channel in terms of subscribers, behind only gamer PewDiePie, who has 63.6 million. Video analytics firm SocialBlade currently ranks T-Series as the most influential YouTube channel in its charts, however.
