One of the earliest blockchain-music startups, Dot Blockchain, has a new partnership this week. It’s working with payments and metadata firm Exactuals on a partnership that the pair say is “ensuring both company’s clients’ song data is clean, correct, and up-to-date and synchronised properly in conjunction with registering the datasets to dotBC’s blockchain solution”.

That will involve the music companies that Dot Blockchain is working with – Socan, MediaNet, Fuga, Songtrust and CD Baby were its first partners in the industry – using Exactuals’ technology to “programmatically correct and enhance song and recording metadata” to ensure it’s in tip-top shape before making its way into Dot Blockchain’s system.

“For our blockchain solution to work as intended, we need to start with the most correct information possible,” said Dot Blockchain CEO Ken Umezaki. “We are excited about formalizing a longstanding relationship with Exactuals, and continuing to develop a modernised music rights framework fit for the digital age together.”
