Google has a brand new app that musicians might be interested in. It’s called Cameos on Google, and promises to be a way for celebrities (artists included) to answer the burning questions of their fans.

“Cameos on Google lets you be the authority on you. Record video answers to the most asked questions on Google and then post them right to Google. Now, when people search for you, they’ll get answers directly from you,” explains its App Store listing.

This actually ties in to an existing feature on the search engine: Posts on Google, which has been going for a while as a way for public figures to post updates directly to Google, which then appear when people search for them. In March this year, the feature opened up to musicians in the US, with the likes of Kygo, Sia, Shakira, Lorde and Steve Aoki among the early adopters.

Celebrities are being invited to download the Cameos app and request access. We hope there’s moderation involved: for some celebs, it could be a chastening experience seeing the most common questions people are asking Google about them…
