Fresh from tying up a deal with Spotify to be the official streaming partner for its new smart speaker, Samsung has announced an alliance with Ticketmaster too.

The ticketing firm will be selling tickets through Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant, which is part of the company’s smartphones as well as its upcoming Bixby-powered speaker.

In fact, the partnership focuses on the former category initially in a single country: for now, this integration is restricted to Samsung Galaxy Note9 handsets in the US.

“Fans simply have to say, ‘Hi Bixby, find concert tickets in Los Angeles’ or ‘Hi Bixby, what sporting events are happening in New York this weekend?’ and Bixby will return results to their device,” is how Ticketmaster explained it.

There’s little evidence yet of how popular ticket-buying is through voice assistants, despite the excitement about the idea from ticketing companies. The Samsung / Bixby partnership will at least provide a few more data-points to that end, as Ticketmaster continues to develop its service for a variety of voice assistants and devices.
