Royalty collection and publishing-administration service Songtrust is expanding again, this time swelling its team to include staff in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Nashville.
The company has hired former ASCAP, MusicBox and RightsFlow executive Alex Gershwin to work in LA as a business development representative. Meanwhile, Breanna Harper, formerly of Spotify, the Grammy Foundation and Disturbing Tha Peace Records, will work out of Atlanta as a client acquisition representative, while Carli Gonderinger (who’s been interning at Songtrust’s parent company Downtown Music Publishing) will fulfil a similar role in Nashville.
Songtrust general manager Joe Conyers III highlighted Atlanta as a particularly-exciting market for the company. “The explosive growth in the music industry driven by Atlanta’s hip-hop, rap, and R&B communities helps support Songtrust’s expansion there, but there is an even bigger story to Georgia: great music of all genres is coming from this region that has been notoriously underserved on all publishing fronts,” he said. “Beyond the obvious headlines, there is a massive production story behind the artists there.”
