Starting 1st November, Tim Pithouse will head up The Orchard’s artist and label services division globally, in charge of expanding the company’s artist & label services operations around the world. “Based in New York, he will establish a presence for his team in all key markets, and leverage his expertise in developing and marketing artists internationally to collaborate closely with creators, set release goals, and execute impactful sales and marketing campaigns across The Orchard’s global network,” said the company in a statement.

With services like Spotify opening up direct deals with artists – and with growing competition in digital distribution across the board – players in this space have to continually expand and refine their offerings. Distribution, in many ways, is the least of what the more forward-facing companies here are now doing, with marketing, promotion, accounting and data analytics all being offered on a tiered pricing system.
