Now accustomed to breaking records, K-Pop band BTS have another milestone: more than one billion Apple Music streams. They’re the first Korean artists to reach that figure – before you mention Psy, bear in mind that peak ‘Gangnam Style’ mania was in 2012, three years before the launch of Apple Music.
According to Billboard, besides South Korea BTS have been racking up Apple Music streams in the US, Japan, Canada, Australia and other countries in Europe and south east Asia. As for other platforms: BTS currently have nearly 8.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, while their Bangtantv YouTube channel has 12.8 million subscribers and 1.92bn lifetime views.
