The latest artist to launch a challenge for users of social-video app TikTok is Alan Walker. It’s called Different World – the same title as his debut album – and has an environmental theme to match the title track’s focus on climate change.
Walker and fellow musicians Sofia Carson, Corsak and K-391 are posting videos that, according to TikTok, will encourage fans to ‘do their part for the environment with the hashtag #DifferentWorld’. The creators of the 60 best videos will get prizes including Alan Walker merchandise.
“I want to use my voice to raise awareness on climate change and the environment where we live, and TikTok is a great partner to do so, as it has become a dynamic platform for expression,” said Walker in a statement. Other artists are already hopping on board the bandwagon: James McVey from pop-band The Vamps has posted his own #DifferentWorld video for example. TikTok says the challenge is running in 48 countries until 17 January.
