Paloma Faith, then Little Mix, and now Michael Bublé. The Canadian crooner is the latest artist to get his own Alexa skill – a voice-controlled app for Echo smart speakers and other devices using Amazon’s virtual assistant.
Fans saying ‘Alexa, open Bublé Daily’ will get access to the skill, which has launched in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, India, Italy, Japan, New Zealand and Spain so far.
The app, launched by Warner Music Group, is keeping things simple: the idea being that fans talk to it once a day to get “a story, a fact or an inspirational quote” from Bublé himself. However, there’s also some technological experimentation going on here: the skill includes video content for Alexa-enabled devices capable of displaying it, so it’s not just audio. WMG got Bublé to record hundreds of messages at once, to ensure there’s plenty of content for those fans to hear and watch.
