Distribution firm CD Baby has inked an interesting deal with publishing-rights organisation SACM in Mexico. “CD Baby will be offering free standard submissions to all registered SACM members,” explained the distributor. “SACM is equally honoured to recognise CD Baby as their “preferred” and recommended distributor. Representing more than half of all Mexican artists, this is the first time SACM has inked such an agreement.”

The deal comes at a time when Mexican artists – and those from other countries in Central and South America – have more opportunities than ever to break out globally, thanks to streaming services including Spotify and YouTube. Mexico City has become one of the biggest cities for stream volume for a number of western artists, while Mexican musicians have also benefitted from the streaming boom. CD Baby will be hoping to play its part in helping SACM’s members capitalise further.
