Deezer bags former Turner exec to be its MENA CEO

As music-streaming competition heats up in the Middle East, Deezer has announced a new boss for the region: Tarek Mounir. He will join the company on 1 April as CEO for MENA and Turkey, with a focus on ‘growing Deezer’s B2B and advertising business’ in the region, as well as working with its global team to ‘bring the company’s local strategy to life’.

Mounir has spent the last eight years working for broadcaster Turner, having previously worked in TV-ad production, and as a TV presenter. By the time he joins, Deezer will have opened its new office in Dubai, having launched its service in the MENA region last October.

“His extensive background in entertainment and understanding of local market dynamics and growth drivers will be a great asset for our ongoing expansion,” said CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht in a statement.
