Music/tech startups are being invited to apply for this year’s Midemlab competition, which will see its final pitch sessions take place at the Midem conference in Cannes this June.

Deezer and Japanese service Recochoku are the official partners for this year’s event, with jury members from companies including Google, Sony Music, The Orchard and Warner Music.

Meanwhile, we’re happy to announce that Music Ally is once again a ‘selecting partner’ alongside Bluenove, which means we’ll be helping to choose the finalists from the startups that apply.

The four categories in this year’s contest are Music Creation & Education; Music Discovery & Distribution; Marketing & Data/Analytics; and Experiential Technologies.

The deadline for entries is 20 March – the application form is here. To be eligible to apply, startups must be less than five years old; have already launched or be in beta stage; and to be independent (i.e. “not affiliated to a group”).
