Spotify was recently under fire for the way playlist-pitching works for labels on its platform, but the company sees the playlists-submission tool it launched in July 2018 as a positive for artists.

Its latest blog post outlines how the tool has worked for one artist, Nashville-based Conner Youngblood. After submitting his track ‘The Birds of Finland’ using Spotify’s tool, it was picked up by the service’s Mellow Morning playlist, which currently has nearly 385,000 followers. “Since appearing on the Mellow Morning playlist, Youngblood has not only seen massive growth in monthly listeners and followers on Spotify, but also a noticeable boost in fans at his live shows all over the world,” claimed Spotify, adding that Youngblood has since also been featured on bigger playlists including Acoustic Hits and Indie Chillout. Youngblood currently has more than 20,500 followers on Spotify, and 118,000 monthly listeners.
