Benji Rogers was one of the earliest people in the music industry talking about the potential of blockchain technology, and he founded a company – DotBlockchain – to try to deliver some of that potential. Now he’s moving on.
“As of today, I will be departing the epic and amazing company that I co-founded, DotBlockchain Media, from my role as Chief Strategy Officer and my role as a member of the board,” wrote Rogers on Friday, while stressing his confidence in the team who’ll be continuing the company’s work – which involves working with music rightsholders to explore how blockchain tech can be used to track rights. “Although little has been shared at this point publicly, the behind the scenes work and progress is extraordinary,” he wrote.
Rogers said he’ll be focusing on strategy work at consultancy firm Lark42; on non-music startups NewsHero and PayChannel; and on his volunteer role trying to extricate PledgeMusic (the crowdfunding company he co-founded, but had not been involved with for a while) from its current financial woes.
