I Am Pop is one of the startups trying to help musicians and music brands make better use of messaging apps in their marketing.
It’s already working with artists signed to labels including Sony Music, Warner Music, AWAL and PIAS, and now the company has a new €2m funding round to help grow its business. I Am Pop also says it has signed some more clients: MAMA Festivals, Mad Decent, The Orchard, Elrow and Ministry of Sound.
“We are entering an era of post-social. Private messaging is the new social network. Users are increasingly flocking to DM, private chat, groups and stories, fuelled by privacy concerns. Meanwhile, messaging apps are turning into full platforms,” said CEO Tim Heineke. His company has also just appointed Max van den Ingh as its head of growth, ahead of its next push for new business.
