SoundCloud wants to beef up its subscriptions business which, remember, isn’t just about music listeners paying for its ad-free tier. The company also has a thriving business in ‘creator’ subscriptions for pro features around uploading their music and audio content. Anyway, the next move in that upbeefage is a new executive, Anthony Gabriele, who is joining SoundCloud as its SVP of subscriptions and marketing. He’ll be based in the company’s New York office.

“We are focused on building premium subscription products for both creators and listeners. Anthony’s background in leading growth efforts for some of the largest consumer technology companies is a perfect fit for SoundCloud,” said COO Michael Weissman. Which companies? Gabriele’s last job was director of subscription marketing at Apple, where Apple Music’s growth from less than 10 million subscribers to 50 million came under his watch. Further back in his career, Gabriele spent three years at Amazon working in its digital-music business.
