Philadelphia-based R&B star Pink Sweat$ is the latest artist to get the Apple ‘Up Next’ treatment, following in the footsteps of the likes of Billie Eilish, Juice WRLD, Bad Bunny and H.E.R.
The campaign will include a short film (shot on an iPhone XS for some double-branding sparkle) talking about his background and creative process – a teaser has been posted to YouTube. Cue Zane Lowe: “This incredible artist’s vision is front and centre, yet the music itself is right now super reduced and low key. His performance, vocal, and songwriting is front and centre where it belongs, and it captures people’s attention in a big way,” said Apple’s global creative director. Lowe has also interviewed Pink Sweat$ for his Beats 1 show.
“As an emerging singer, songwriter, and producer this recognition means so much to me as I continue to share my music with the world,” said the musician. He recently released his ‘Volume 2’ EP, and is picking up traction on other platforms too.
Pink Sweat$ has 4.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, for example, where he’s been getting support on playlists like Are & Be and New Music Friday.
In more ‘platforms plug artists’ news, SoundCloud has announced the latest 20 artists to get its ‘First On SoundCloud’ support. Flipp Dinero, OSHUN, DNMO, HappyBirthdayCalvin, IV Jay and Billie Eilish are among those getting the support.
