Her fans made a sterling effort, but Taylor Swift’s new video didn’t quite knock BTS off their perch holding YouTube’s record for a video’s most views in its first 24 hours. Their ‘Boy With Luv’ generated 74.6m in that period, while Swift’s ‘Me!’ video with Brendon Urie ended up getting 65.2m views in its first 24 hours.

Still, YouTube put out an announcement noting the records that ‘Me!’ *did* set for its platform: the “biggest 24-hour debut for any music video by a solo (female or male) artist”. It also set a personal best for Swift herself, whose previous 24-hour record was 43.2m views for ‘Look What You Made Me Do’.

In any case, the new release is still more evidence for the power of a YouTube Premiere: not only did it get ‘Me!’ off to a rocket on Friday morning, but that day, Swift’s 30 most-viewed YouTube videos also saw their views increase by 22% compared to the average of the preceding 30 days.
