Times Internet is the parent company of Indian music-streaming service Gaana, which recently announced that it now has more than 100 million active users. The parent group’s CEO Satyan Gajwani has published a state-of-the-company report which is a good summary of how it all fits together: Gaana within a family of news, sports and lifestyle sites; video-streaming service MXPlayer; mobile gaming and other properties. But it also offers some thoughts on the potential for paid subscriptions in India – a matter of definite interest to the music industry.

“Across our businesses, we have crossed over 1 million paid subscribers this year. Our target is to reach 20 million paid subscribers in the next few years,” wrote Gajwani. Part of that plan is a bundle called TimesPrime, which includes the premium tiers of Gaana, Times of India and restaurant-booking service Dineout, as well as other benefits.
