Steve Aoki launches contest with K-Pop social app Amazer

Artist Steve Aoki is famously quick to explore new technologies and trends. The latest place he’s popped up is within a social app focused on K-Pop, tying in with his ‘Play It Cool’ collaboration with Korean group Monsta X. The app is Amazer, which gets K-Pop fans to upload their dancing and lip-syncing videos.

Aoki has launched the #playitcoolchallenge within the app, complete with his own augmented-reality face and digital stickers for fans to use in their videos featuring the song. He’ll be picking his three favourites to win merchandise.

The benefit for Amazer will also be the way Aoki is promoting the competition (and thus the app) on his other social-media profiles. “If the #PlayitcoolChallenge_amazer hashtag becomes a Worldwide trend, I`ll give away @OfficialMonstaX autographed t-shirts to a few lucky people!” he tweeted on Tuesday, for example, to his 8.5 million fans on that platform, with a link to the app’s download page.
