Last year, Spotify ran a New York accelerator program called ‘SoundUp’ for women of colour with ambitions to launch their own podcasts. It has since been repeated elsewhere in the world. Now it’s heading back to New York for its second year.

10 women will be chosen for the five-day program, with a panel of industry experts choosing three winners at the end – who’ll get $10k to produce up to five episodes of their podcast.

The program will happen in mid-August, with participants hoping to follow in the footsteps of Titi Shodiya (‘Dope Labs’); Janina Jeff (‘In Those Genes’) and Kristina Ogilvie (‘Your Job Seems Easy’) who were last year’s winners.

Spotify is stressing that entrants will retain ownership of their podcast ideas, with a deadline of 21 June for applications. Find out more here.
