More games stats? We got ‘em! Well, analytics firm App Annie has got ‘em, at least. It’s published some new data on the mobile games market, as a sub-sector of mobile apps.

“33% of all mobile downloads and 10% of time spent on mobile are now games,” explained the company in its latest blog post. But also: “The rise of hyper casual and cross platform gaming has led to 74% of all consumer spend on the app store being driven by games.”

App Annie is also predicting that mobile games will account for 60% of total gaming spend (i.e. across mobile, console and PC) in 2019 – not bad for a sector that for many years was looked down on by many people in the traditional gaming industry. App Annie has a free (in exchange for contact details) report to go with this, exploring the mobile gaming trends in more depth.
