The R&B-focused ‘Are & Be’ has become the latest Spotify-owned playlist to reach a notable milestone: five million followers.

Spotify is celebrating by taking over a six-floor building in New Orleans for the Essence Fest music festival, and designating it ‘The House of Are & Be’ as a “multi-storied tribute to Black women in R&B and podcasts that includes an art gallery showcasing musicians and podcasters, recording studio, and performance space”.

Erykah Badu, Sade, Chaka Khan, Mary J. Blige and Destiny’s Child are among the artists chosen to feature in the exhibition, while ‘Jemele Hill is Unbothered’ gets top billing on the podcasts floor, as a promotion for one of Spotify’s latest exclusive podcasts. Hill will be recording an episode of her show at the house too.
