Apple Music has confirmed that Nigerian-born artist Burna Boy is its latest ‘Up Next’ artist, ahead of the release of his new album ‘African Giant’.
Apple says that his music has already been streamed more than 100m times on Apple Music globally, aided by support from in-house playlists including The Plug, New Fire and The A-List: African Music.
Like other artists chosen for the ‘Up Next’ program, Burna Boy will be appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! TV show in the US later this month; is getting a short film made by Apple; and an in-depth interview for Apple’s Beats 1 radio station.
Meanwhile, in separate Apple Music news today, the company has doubled the length of its free trial for students in the US from three months to six months. Apple-focused blog Appleosophy spotted the change, citing an internal memo. The trial will roll in to a regular $4.99 student subscription when it ends.
