Once upon a time, remixes were usually an easy way to provide B-sides for singles and/or cuts more suited for club DJs. In the post-Despacito era, they’re becoming a strong tactic to give already-big tracks a new lease of chart / streaming life.

Justin Bieber was famously part of the ‘Despacito’ remix, and now he’s at it again, appearing on an official remix of Billie Eilish’s ‘Bad Guy’which was released yesterday. A collaboration which at least has more to it than purely-commercial matchmaking: Eilish has made no secret of her past as a superfan Belieber, so fans are enjoying the collab.

Meanwhile, Lil Nas X is also playing the remix game, having already seen ‘Old Town Road’ dominate charts across the road with a version featuring country veteran Billie Ray Cyrus. Yesterday, a new remix of the track came out featuring Young Thug and Mason Ramsey – the latter may be more familiar to many as ‘that boy who went viral yodelling a Hank Williams song in a supermarket’. The new remix is available now, complete with a new animoji-style video with Young Thug and Mason Ramsey added in.

In separate news, Lil Nas X has been confirmed as the headliner at live-video platform Twitch’s upcoming TwitchCon event.
