Apple Music appears to be moving through its flagship ‘A-List’ genre playlists one by one, rebranding them Spotify-style with their own identities.

The company recently revamped its ‘The A-List: Hip Hop’ playlist as ‘Rap Life’, and now it’s the turn of its indie-focused sister playlist ‘The A-List: Alternative’. It’s now called ‘ALT CTRL’, according to Billboard, which reported on the playlist’s new blurb that: “Alternative is more an attitude than a sound – music that colors just a bit outside the lines. ALT CTRL…is where you’ll find the best of those new left-of-center tunes.” Haim are the first cover stars for the new playlist, with their latest track ‘Summer Girl’.

We’ve got ‘Rap Life’ and ‘ALT CTRL’, so what’s next for Apple Music’s rebranding program? Its other A-List playlists include Pop, R&B and Country, as well as regional versions focusing on Bollywood, K-Pop, Mandopop and others.
