Deezer adds more Spanish ‘Deezer Originals’ to its Latin channel

Tags:

Spotify and YouTube have both staked their claims to be driving the boom in global listening to Latin American music, but other music-streaming services are making plenty of efforts to promote Latin artists too.

Deezer’s latest move is the launch of a ‘Deezer Originals’ channel in Spanish, offering exclusive content and artist commentaries. For example, there are ‘Track By Track’ album commentaries by the likes of Natti Natasha, Juan Luis Guerra and Abraham Mateo; playlists curated by artists including Alejandro Sanz; live sessions and the ‘Rock Colombia’ podcast.

The new Spanish-language originals will be found within Deezer’s existing Latin hub, as well as surfaced in its ‘Exclusives’ channel.

In an interview with Music Ally early in 2019, Deezer’s CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht suggested that the company is the second-biggest music-streaming service in Latin America as a whole, and is competing for top spot in countries like Colombia.
