We’ve written several times this year about Troy Carter’s new firm Q&A, a hybrid company offering a blend of management, artist services and distribution to its roster of artists. Now the scale of Carter’s ambition is becoming clear.
MBW reports that he has hired Clarissa Reformina (formerly of talent agencies CAA and Paradigm) as Q&A’s VP of creator services; Ray Kurzeka (UMG’s Caroline/Capitol) as VP of digital strategy; and Austin Hurwitz (Amazon Music) as VP of music operations. They join the likes of Tim Luckow (ex Stem), Phillip Eubanks (Spotify) and Marc Hemeon (Facebook/YouTube) in senior positions at Q&A.
Already this year, the company has signed a partnership with Atlantic Records, to which some of its artists will be signed when they reach a certain point in their development. “Having a partnership with WMG allows us to upstream independent artists that are looking to release through a major label system, therefore, enabling us to continue to add value at every stage of their career,” said Carter recently.
