Samsung still hasn’t released its first smart speaker, the Galaxy Home, having announced it in August 2018. Earlier this month, Samsung told journalists that it was “continuing to refine and enhance” the device. However, it seems the company is simultaneously working on a second speaker, following the Google and Amazon pattern of producing something smaller and cheaper than its flagship device.

The new model is called the Galaxy Home Mini, and it’s being beta-tested in Samsung’s home market of South Korea. The device will use Samsung’s own voice assistant, Bixby, which has been the focus of plenty of attention (not always positive) in the last year, with questions over how it compares to the established tech launched by Amazon, Google and Apple among other companies.
