If you’re an artist or manager using the Spotify for Artists app to keep track of your analytics, you may have already noticed that the app’s latest update gives it a new look, with cleaner stats and a new ‘Home’ tab that includes tips for getting more out of Spotify. One good feature for managers: they can now easily switch between different artists on their roster within the app, as well as managing their profiles (images, bios, playlists and artists picks) there. Another significant change: the addition of ‘real-time’ analytics. Well, for a certain time at least.

According to Spotify, the app “continues to help you keep track of your new release with real-time listening stats for the first week after you go live. That means you can see how many listeners are playing your tracks across the world at any given moment”. Arguably not a great step forward for people’s ability not to compulsively be looking at their smartphone every minute, although another new app feature is “making it easier to track important milestones – from when you make it onto a playlist, to when you get new followers”, which may be more actionable.
