At the time of writing, it’s 19 hours since Big Hit Entertainment’s official Twitter profile for BTS made this announcement: “#BTS TikTok Channel Open!”. 19 hours later, BTS’ TikTok account is being followed by 2.2 million people.

Their two posts so far have 2.9m and 1.9m likes respectively. BTS are the latest prominent artist to join TikTok with an official account, and if the strategies of Ed Sheeran and others are anything to go by, we can expect BTS’ profile to be the ideal springboard for a hashtag challenge in the near future.

2.2 million followers in less than a day is impressive, although the band’s TikTok account still has a way to travel to match their other socials: 17m Twitter followers for the Big Hit BTS profile plus 21.9m for the band’s own account; and 20.4m for Big Hit’s official BTS channel on Instagram.

As on those platforms, Big Hit is part of the branding (@bts_official_bighit) for the new TikTok channel. Fans are already badgering for the individual band members to get their own TikTok profiles, as you’d expect.
