It wasn’t just Spotify shouting about podcasts yesterday, on ‘International Podcast Day’. Fellow streaming service Deezer had its own announcement, albeit focused on back-end deals rather than front-end consumer features. Deezer announced five new partnerships with podcast providers: Libsyn, Ausha, Podomatic, Blubrry and Simplecast. Libsyn is the biggest of the bunch: Deezer says it has a library of more than 64k podcasts, and 116 million monthly listeners across those shows.

Alongside the five new deals, Deezer also announced that two of its existing podcast providers, Audioboom and Spreaker, are making it quicker and easier for podcasters to submit their shows to Deezer. The streaming service also reiterated the growth in podcast-listening on its service: its monthly podcast usage has grown by 250% over the last two years, while podcast listening time has actually quadrupled.
