When Spotify launched in India earlier this year, its family plan wasn’t part of the offering. Now it is. The plan launched yesterday for INR 179 a month (around $2.50) covering up to six people in a household as in other markets.

“Spotify’s Premium Family plan has been loved across markets, and we know that our users in India wanted it when we launched in February,” said Spotify’s managing director, India, Amarjit Batra in a statement. “Family time and recreation are a core part of our culture, and we want users to discover new music and podcasts through their family, without compromising on their personal taste and app experience.” The price means Spotify is using the same model as in its established markets for the family plan: in India it still costs just over 50% more than the price of a regular individual subscription.
