Spotify opens a studio in Brazil for female artists only

Spotify has opened a new recording studio in São Paulo, Brazil, with a very specific focus: women. It’s called Casa de Música – Escuta as Minas (translation: House of Music – Listen to Women) and has already been used by artists including Bibi Caetano, The Mönic, Souto MC, and Luana Marques.

Here’s how Spotify described the new facility, which will be open until the end of 2019: “In addition to being a recording space with an all-female crew, Escuta as Minas allocates resources for other aspects of the music industry, such as workshops on uploading and optimising content on Spotify, and assistance with photo shoots.” The studio sits alongside other diversity initiatives within Spotify, such as its Equalizer Project.

  • Spotify it’s such a great idea. Opening a studio focusing on women in Brazil is such an important moe, especially taking into account the recent rise in women rights movements across Lain America.
