In February, Music Ally spotted plans by former Spotify global head of artist and industry partnerships Mark Williamson to launch a new startup called Rostr. It was tagged as “AngelList for the music industry” – a reference to the popular website cataloguing startups for investors. This week, Rostr has launched in beta.

“The industry is really exciting at the moment but it’s also increasingly complex. We’re building a platform to help cut through some of that complexity & make it easier to collaborate across the industry,” wrote Williamson, in a Facebook post announcing the launch. “Our beta combines the latest moves, signings, playlist updates & more with the fastest & most up-to-date music industry directory. This is just the first step but we’ll be adding a lot more in the coming weeks, months & years.”

Invitations can be requested from Rostr’s website – as a tip, Williamson suggests entering ‘MarkFB’ as the referral code to speed up access to the beta.
