Spotify’s latest feature for podcast listeners takes a leaf out of Discover Weekly and Release Radar’s books: a personalised playlist not of songs, but of podcast episodes. It has launched in the US, UK, Germany, Sweden, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and promises to give listeners “an easy way to discover new shows while also keeping up with old favourites. For now, it’s available for people who’ve listened to at least four podcasts in the past 90 days.

There’s some cleverness going on in terms of what’s picked: “That might be the next sequential episode in a podcast you’re already listening to… a recent stand-alone evergreen episode in another show… or a timely episode from a daily updating podcast,” explained Spotify in a blog post.

It’s a nice idea, but something’s lacking: you can follow Your Daily Podcasts, but there doesn’t appear to be a ‘download’ button (as there is for Discover Weekly and Release Radar) to keep the episodes auto-synced locally on your smartphone. Not ideal if your podcast listening takes place on the move, although there are buttons to download the individual episodes on the playlist.
