Indian streaming service JioSaavn has been commissioning original tracks and remixes for a while now, but its latest example takes things up several notches in terms of the participating artists.

U2 have teamed up with Indian legend A.R. Rahman for a new track called ‘Ahimsa’, which launches today ahead of U2’s first ever concert in India, on 15 December.

Like previous original tracks commissioned by JioSaavn, the company isn’t restricting its availability on a global basis: ‘Ahimsa’ is also available on Spotify, Apple Music (and iTunes), Amazon Music and other digital services worldwide.

It’s part of a wider project with the band too: JioSaavn is also releasing four remixes of tracks from U2’s back catalogue by Indian artists – these, too, will be available on a range of streaming services, rather than being exclusive to JioSaavn.
