Deezer has pulled together its 18-track Big Christmas album where acts including Ella Henderson, Aurora, Circa Waves, Thalía and Gabrielle Aplin record covers of Christmas classics that are exclusive to the streaming service.
The album pulls in artists from a range of countries including Australia, France, Norway, Mexico the UK and the Philippines, and working across a variety of genres to make this as broad and as international as possible.
It’s the latest streaming service to make this kind of festive push. Amazon has been commissioning Christmas originals (covers included) for several years, while Spotify also gets artists in to record tracks for its ‘Spotify Singles: Christmas Collection playlist’. Maybe this is the last place where streaming services can get away with playing the “exclusive” card. Especially if they all do it.
