In June, Music Ally reported on a new social-music app called Voisey, which we described as “Smule’s Sing! Karaoke meets TikTok”. It had just raised a funding round from investors including management firm ie music’s boss Tim Clark; Platoon founder Denzyl Fiegelson and Spirit Music Group global president Rak Sanghvi. Now it’s announced another investment and partnership with music-industry figures: songwriting duo Stargate.

Norwegians Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen have a stake in Voisey, and will be “providing exclusive new backing tracks, designing vocal effect presets, working with standout Voisey artists and assisting with further strategic alliances” according to the announcement.

The app helps people create and share original music, and has recently expanded from its beta in the UK and Norway to the US, Canada and 20 countries in Europe.

Voisey says that before this expansion, its beta users recorded “over 350,000 new original song hooks” using the app. “We’ve built both an A&R early-warning system and a highly engaging new lean-forward music format,” said co-founder Olly Barnes.
