We’ve been writing about Danish radio-monitoring startup Warm for a couple of years now: World Airplay Radio Monitor was one of our ‘startups to watch in 2018’, and its CEO Jesper Skibsby pitched at our NY:LON Connect conference that January.
Now Warm has announced a round of seed funding, €1.25m (nearly $1.4m) raised from existing investors as well as consumer electronics giant Sony. The latter investment came through Sony’s Startup Acceleration Program Europe, which Warm recently took part in.
Warm’s offering remains using audio fingerprinting and music recognition tech to monitor 28,000 radio stations around the world, and then delivering analytics on what they’re playing to artists, labels, managers and other industry entities.
Warm says it’s planning to expand into North America as well as across Europe on the back of the funding round. “The problem with airplay transparency is a global one. We hope we can leverage our partnership with the investors to break barriers much faster and get our solution out to the world,” said Skibsby in a statement.
