Pearl Jam fans may well be going out into their back gardens this week and howling at the moon. No, this isn’t about ticket prices for their upcoming tour.

The returning band have launched an augmented reality ‘experience’ called Super Blood Wolf Moon, ahead of the release of their new album’s lead single ‘Superblood Wolfmoon’ next week. The idea: fans type moon.pearljam.com into their smartphone web browser, then point their device at the sky. Their camera will track the real moon, then superimpose a red lunar eclipse, while playing a preview of the new single complete with animated Pearl Jam band members. Creative agency Powster worked on the project with the band, and says it’ll work on all Android and iOS devices with a camera.
