The latest startup to mix music and tourism is London-based Beatstravellers.

“A social marketplace creating unique vacation options in the travel and music market,” is how the company describes itself on investor database AngelList. It wants to add a tourism strand when people travel to a festival, to help music fans see a bit more of the surrounding area.

The Beatstravellers app will suggest travel ideas when people are at festivals and it will also suggest festivals when people are travelling. “The Beatravellers uses recommendation engines in order to match the user with experiences in line with their tastes,” it says. “It also caters for solo travellers who can meet-up at nearby events who can share their journey.”

The website has a few more details, such as saying it can – based on the user profile – recommend not only festivals but also bars, restaurants, cultural hotspots and accommodation. Its blending of festivals and tourism reminds us of GigsGuide which we wrote about last year, and which described itself as “the love child of Spotify and Skyscanner”. Its sell was that it allows users to search for shows in locations where they are on holiday or travelling for work and wraps in flight and accommodation options.
