Music Ally has written a fair bit about the exploration of genre-specific streaming services focusing on classical music, jazz or metal. Is there an opportunity for distributors to follow a similar strategy? Distributor Believe and German label Nuclear Blast are teaming up to have a go, with the launch of a joint venture called Blood Blast Distribution. It’ll be distributing ‘extreme music’ – reflecting Nuclear Blast’s historic focus on metal of all stripes.

“We are joining forces and bringing 30 years of experience in the metal scene to the most innovative digital distribution company in the world,” promised Jerome Riera, Nuclear Blast’s international A&R, and a key member of the Blood Blast leadership team.

Among the first artists to use Blood Blast are French band Kugelblitz, Polish act The Materia, and British group Malevolence. Blood Blast is already distributing to more than 200 streaming services and download stores, while also offering A&R support, marketing strategy and a global network of publicists to its artists.

Music Ally’s next Learn Live webinar will help you understand what’s required for artists to thrive in new international markets!
