YouTube’s latest initiative to encourage people to self-isolate during the coronavirus pandemic’s current phase is a hub called StayHome #WithMe that gathers videos that it thinks will keep people entertained, active and informed while staying home.
The top shelf on the page is called ‘Jam With Me’ and spotlights the latest livestreams from artists – at the time of writing including J Balvin, Major Lazer, Lauv and Yungblud, as well as Colors’ 30-day livestream (which we reported on yesterday).
Any artist doing live stuff on YouTube should read this document, which explains how the new hub is working, and encourages them to title their video ‘#StayHome and _____ #WithMe’ (filling the blank in with whatever makes most sense) and then share it socially with those two hashtags. YouTube says it’ll be featuring these streams across its own channels and marketing, with the promise of “a lot of ideas and programs in development” for the initiative that artists and labels are encouraged to contact it to get involved with.
