It’s back! Some days we’re not running a ‘positive news’ roundup, which doesn’t necessarily mean everything’s bleak and terrible: it might be that we’ve broken out a bigger positive story on its own, or just that there’s a lull in announcements.

Good things to tell you about today, however, include Bandcamp’s announcement that last Friday’s revenue-share-waiving sale saw fans spend $7.1m on music and merchandise – $2.8m more than the previous sale on 20 March.

We’re also encouraged by Metallica’s launch of an ‘All Within My Hands Month of Giving‘ campaign, which will support four specific organisations working on Covid-19 relief: Feeding America, Crew Nation, the United States Bartenders Guild Foundation, and Direct Relief. The band will be telling fans about each organisation over the month, while donating funds from special merch lines and the #MetallicaMondays streaming concerts. Hats off to you, sirs!

Finally, US charity Musicians On Call is expanding its ‘Music Pharmacy’ program, which brings music to patients in hospitals across the US – including those with Covid-19. Amazon (with tablets), Amazon Music (with streaming subscriptions) and Bose (with headphones) are the partners for all this.
