Epic Games has put put a couple of new figures for its flagship game Fortnite, and they’re big. “Fortnite now has over 350 million registered players! In April, players spent over 3.2 billion hours in game,” tweeted the official Fortnite account yesterday.

Note, the 350m figure isn’t active players – we don’t know how many of the registered users are still playing. It does represent impressive growth, although it has decelerated from the game’s peak signups period.

In June 2018, Fortnite had 125 million registered players, and that grew to 250 million by March 2019 – so an average of 13.9 million new registrations a month during that period. The new figure indicates that since March 2019, Fortnite has averaged around 7.7 million new registrations a month.

In related news, we now have some idea of the impact that Travis Scott’s Fortnite concerts had on his YouTube figures. Scott jumped from 23rd to second place in the US YouTube music chart, with 41.2m views in the week of 24-30 April – 155.5% week-on-week growth. Globally it was even bigger: a 213.8% spike in views to 156m, taking him to sixth spot in the global rankings. Note, this was about his new track too: ‘The Scotts’ with Kid Cudi, which has two videos, an audio track and a video from the Fortnite concert all published a week ago. Meanwhile, the full-length video of the Fortnite show has been watched more than 23m times.
